I also own the contemporary nonstick version of this pan. I like them both. I use this one when I need a fond such as searing meat for a stew or when I start with a saute of onions. Stainless works best for these jobs. The pan is very attractive and easy to clean and maintain. I do not put it in the dishwasher although Calphalon says that you can. I do not want to risk the beautiful finish. The size is big enough to use as a dutch oven and it will hold a double batch of spaghetti sauce and meatballs. Very versatile pan.
I love calphalon cookware. This pot is great for chicken soup and other stews. I have a few calphalon cookware pieces but am impressed with the product and will buy more in the future.
This pot is the perfect size for a small family. It works beautifully and cleans up easily.
I really like everything about this pan! Not only does it genuinely represent Calphalon’s well noted reputation, but it’s also a handy size, easy to clean, as well as attractive in appearance.
I would highly recommend this pan, and any others within the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless Steel line.
I use this mainly as a stockpot, but it takes forever for even 3 quarts of water to start simmering (my cheap 5 quart Tools Of The Trade stockpot boiled water at a third of the time). I have the 2 quart Chef’s Pan which boils water fine.
